Sandboxie 4.10 description:
Sandboxie 4.10 is a great development and security tool which enables all computer users to effortlessly run their browsers or other applications in isolated environment (the sandbox), thus preventing these applications from making permanent changes to the system or writing to the hard drive. This is an extremely efficient way to avoid getting infected by viruses or other malicious programs without even running an anti-virus program. By having Sandboxie 4.10 installed on your PC, anyone can have a secure corner where they can leave any suspicious program or webapp to run, knowing that those apps will never be able to touch your OS, local storage or your personal information.
Sandboxie 4.10 was created by the developer Ronen Tzur (later acquired by the software development company Invincea) was created in June of 2004 with a goal of becoming very easy and very safe to use software “isolation program” that will enable anyone to create their own operating environment that would not allow processes that run in it to touch anything outside of it. This feature had two-fold use. It enabled developers to have fully isolated environment for controlled testing of their applications, and enabled anyone (especially users with good technical knowledge about programming, operating system and software security) to test, locate and find a way to remove various local malicious apps or compromised web destinations in the environment that would not endanger host machine.
Free version of Sandboxie 4.10 can be used without many limitation, but purchase of 15€ license enables professional users to run more than one instance of this app, removes nag screens, and enables few additional features.
Benefits of the Isolated Sandbox:
